28 Oct 2008Microsoft’s next version of Office will include web versions of its office applications. Office Web apps will allow users to create, edit, view, and collaborate on documents on the web.
The apps will include Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and OneNote. It seems Microsoft is trying to get in the game with the already popular Google Docs and Zoho, although considerably late. Considering there are a lot of users who still prefer using Microsofts office suite to open source and online applications, I think its a good move for Microsoft. Perhaps Office Web will provide the opportunity for Mac users to finally use OneNote. The applications will use HTML and AJAX as well as some Silverlight components [RRW].
